The play is not suitable for under 11s

‘The Ghost Train’ was written by Arnold Ridley who is probably better known nowadays as Private Godfrey in the long running, often repeated TV series, `Dad’s Army’, than as a playwright.    The play was first produced in November 1925 and had a very successful long run in the West End and in 1926 it was transferred to Broadway.  It is the most well known of the thirty or so plays he wrote through his long career.

This will be St Faith’s Players second production to be staged at the Watermans Art Centre, `Dick Whittington’ was presented in the theatre and proved very popular with everyone involved, including the audiences, so the group will be back there at the end of November with another traditional family Pantomime.  ‘The Ghost Train’ requires a smaller, more intimate space so Studio 1 is ideal.

The action takes place in November 1925 in the small General Waiting-room at Fal Vale, a wayside station on the South Cornwall Joint Railway, during one evening.  The story of the ghost train is well known to the local villagers who avoid the station on dark wintry nights……

Welcome to 2018

Panto, Christmas and New Year celebrations are now done and dusted.
Below is a short message from our brilliant director and a message to the group via Andrea.  It seemed everyone loved the Panto, many saying it was the best we’ve ever performed.  More pictures can be found on the gallery page (or click on Dick below)

Hi everyone I had a lovely day at work on Monday. So many children from St Paul’s went to the panto and all loved it. The assembly must have done a good job !!! I even got a bouquet of flowers from a staff member who went and said we gave her one of the best nights of her life. I had a blast thanks everyone.

Andrea xx

Watermans, Here We Come

This time next week (Sunday 26th) we will begin setting up the stage ready for the first performance of Dick Whittington, on Friday 1st December. Keep checking the countdown on the right.

The set is painted and ready - well almost.  There are always some last minute items to make and paint, this year will be no different. It’s been a challenge in the limited space of our new workshop.

Lines are learnt and the cast are well rehearsed and raring to go.

The costumes are stitched, pressed  and looking great, the complexities of not having the full wardrobe to hand when rehearsals are taking place has been overcome.

Props are made or sourced, from elaborate hats to pirate swords.

Music, sound and lighting is planned and ready to take its place in theatre.

It will be fantastic when all the elements finally come together in one space for the first time

It’s not too late to book tickets at the Watermans Box Office.

We are always seeking new members and whether you would like to be on stage or help behind the scenes, you will be made very welcome.
